What different types of load cells or force transducers are there?
The octogon product portfolio for force measurement includes compression force transducers, tension and compression force transducers, shear and bending rods, load measuring shackles, ring force transducers as well as measuring axes, tension measuring lugs, rope force and strain transducers and load cells. What different measuring principles are there for force sensors / force transducers?
At octogon, strain gauge technology is used to build force transducers.
- Foil strain gauges (abbreviated DMS) offer a large geometric variability and also impress with a high level of accuracy starting at 0.01% of full scale. Even the smallest forces can be reliably measured using such force sensors. The strain gauges are glued to the deformation body, and the measuring ranges extend from 0 ... 0.5 N to 0 ... 10,000 kN.
What are the areas of application for force sensors?
Force sensors are used in numerous industrial sectors: mechanical engineering, automation and process technology are just three of many examples. Force measurement technology is also used in cranes and hoists, in agricultural technology and in port logistics, for example.
