Bending beam load cells for small and medium nominal loads

In a bending beam, the spring element is clamped at one end and loaded at its free end; the strain at the bending zone is measured. At small nominal loads this principle delivers more signal per newton than a shear beam – which is why this range already starts at 5 kg.

Bending beam or shear beam?

Below roughly 500 kg the bending beam is usually the more accurate and more economical choice. As the load increases, or when the point of load application is not exactly fixed, shear beam load cells are superior because they are less sensitive to side forces and to deviations in the load introduction point.

For single platforms without a multi-cell system, platform load cells (single point) are suitable. Mechanical installation is made easier by weighing modules, and signal processing is handled by electronics from the measuring electronics range. Calibration to ISO 17025 on request.
