Description
The TSMB is a contact sensor with a spring-loaded measuring tip and an IO-Link interface, manufacturer type Müller MKTS-SPIO.
It measures on the surface and in bearings: The compression spring holds the measuring tip with a 14 mm travel (±1 mm) at the measuring point, even if the component moves or expands due to heat – a rigidly screwed-in sensor would lose contact in such a situation. The sensor tube measures Ø 6 mm made of stainless steel 1.4571, the compression spring is made of spring steel 1.4310, the protection class is IP 65 / IP 68, the installation length is 45 or 65 mm, the weight is approximately 200 g.
The mechanics are the same as with the TSMA (MKTS-SP); instead of a HART transmitter, an IO-Link transmitter is installed here. The measured value is sent digitally to the IO-Link master, and the sensor is also parameterized there – a configuration device is not necessary, the description of the values is in the device file IODD MKTS-SPIO. The electrical connection is M12x1 four-pin as the only option; the sensor does not have a display or limit contacts.
The input has a Pt100 in a 3-wire circuit or a thermocouple Type J, K or N. The nominal range extends from -50 … +150 °C in all versions; a measuring range of 0 … 100 °C is set ex works, customizable. The source states the accuracy as max. 0.02 % of the range plus sensor error at 16 Bit and 20 ms response time, powered by 24 VDC with reverse polarity protection.
Note before ordering: This sensor does not withstand process pressure. The source explicitly states: System pressure not possible, the process connection has no sealing effect; the Pressure Equipment Directive is therefore not applicable. The ambient temperature is not the medium temperature: The electronics in the head tolerate -20 … +80 °C, the medium up to +150 °C; the source does not state what neck length or insulation is required for this. The accuracy specification is remarkably favorable: 0.02 % of the range at 16 Bit, while the sister sheets with 24 Bit only guarantee 0.1 % and the MKTS-SP with the same design states 0.3 % – before designing, the value must be confirmed with the manufacturer, the sensor error is always added. The relationship between filter and response time is also striking: 25 s filter at 20 ms response time. The datasheet does not specify a minimum span. A CE mark is not documented, a declaration of conformity is not available; explosion protection is also not documented.
