OCTOGON supplies pressure capsules, pressure measuring cells, and diaphragms (also called pressure measuring elements) in various sizes and designs. Various highly resistant materials are also available to ensure compatibility with a wide range of pressure gauges. Applications usually include manometers, pressure transmitters, and blood pressure monitors. These applications require very good linearity. We guarantee linearity errors of less than 1% of full scale, and even lower on request. In many applications, linearity is not required, but the stroke is optimized. For example, for applications in pressure regulators, pressure surge dampers, or pressure displays. Please contact us with your requirements. Hysteresis is practically immeasurable for many materials. For many customers, the diaphragms are connected with fittings, nipples, or base plates.

Absolute Pressure Capsules
Absolute pressure capsules are evacuated capsules for use in aneroid barometers and altimeters. The spring action of the diaphragms and the load of the external air pressure are in equilibrium. A change in air pressure thus causes a corresponding change in the height of the capsule. The change in capsule height is transmitted to the display of a barometer or altimeter via a pointer mechanism. If the stroke is not sufficient, several absolute pressure capsules can be assembled into a capsule set. Absolute pressure capsules are evacuated and hermetically sealed and are used for air pressure and altitude measurement.
Capsule Springs or Pressure Measuring Cells
We supply absolute pressure capsules and capsule sets in various diameters and strokes, and with silver coating on request. For use in weather stations, we also manufacture temperature-compensated capsule sets.

Differential Pressure Capsules
Differential pressure capsules, relative pressure capsules or capsule springs measure the pressure outside the assembly in relation to the internal pressure of the assembly.
For differential pressure capsules, two diaphragms are connected to allow larger strokes. The measuring pressure is led into the differential pressure capsule through a pressure connection. The height of the differential pressure capsule changes with the pressure difference between internal and external pressure. We manufacture differential pressure capsules from CuBe2, 1.4435 and 1.4571 in various diameters. Other materials and diameters are available on request. Custom connections are manufactured on request at favorable prices.
Function of Differential Pressure Capsules, Relative Pressure Capsules or Capsule Springs
It functions like an analog computer, as any pressure applied equally to both sides of the capsule results in a zero deflection.

Diaphragms, Flat Springs or Disc Springs
Diaphragms, flat springs or disc springs are primarily used when, for example, very hot or highly corrosive processes do not allow direct connection of pressure gauges to the process medium.
Diaphragms or disc springs are our basic elements for pressure measurement. They can be described as pressure-stroke transducers. Two diaphragms connected at the edge form a differential or absolute pressure measuring cell. Separating diaphragms are usually used as pressure transmitters between the medium and the sensor element.

Diaphragm Systems
Diaphragm systems are suitable for measuring micro-pressure and vacuum of gaseous media in processes of all kinds, including those with high demands on corrosion resistance.
Adapted to your specific requirements, we develop entirely new diaphragm systems or base them on drawings or existing samples.
We can adapt these systems to the desired pressure and precision range, including vacuum and vacuum pressure range.
