Description

The TBMA is a sheathed thermocouple with a flexible protection tube and a fixed connection cable, manufacturer type Müller TE-MK1.

It measures in installation locations that a rigid protection tube cannot reach. The sheathed tube can be bent to a radius of min. 5 × Ø protection tube; the cable is firmly attached to the sensor, eliminating the need for a connection head that requires space and wall clearance. The protection tube is made of 2.4816 (Inconel 600), specified as a material up to 1100 °C, the connecting sleeve is made of 1.4571 (316Ti), the protection class is IP 65 up to 250 °C. Available in four diameters from 1.5 to 6 mm and with a nominal length of 100 mm as standard, up to 2000 mm on request, it also fits into narrow and deep bores. Clamp fittings and sheet metal flanges from the accessories are used for fastening.

For Ø 3 mm, the manufacturer specifies a response time of t90 5 s and t50 2 s – meaning the sensor still responds usefully to rapid temperature changes. Connection is via open ends or via TE connectors in standard or mini design; five cable versions from PVC to glass silk are available, with a standard length of 2 m.

The measuring element is a Type J (Fe-CuNi) or Type K (NiCr-Ni) thermocouple, insulated in metal oxide. The operating range for Type J is from -200 … +700 °C, for Type K from -200 … +1000 °C. The limit deviation follows DIN EN 60584-2 Class 1: ±1.5 °C in the range -40 … 375 °C, above that ±0.004|t|. The sensor directly outputs the thermovoltage; a transmitter is not documented; the insulation is tested with 500 VDC.

Please note before ordering: The operating range is determined by the cable, not the sensor – PVC ends at +70 °C, silicone at +180 °C, PTFE at +250 °C, glass silk at +550 °C. If you want to utilize the +1000 °C of Type K, you will not find a suitable cable in this cable range; for PTFE, the sister sheets specify +205 °C, the value from this source is adopted. IP 65 does not apply to the version with braided shield; the source does not specify which protection class applies there. The accuracy table extends further than the operating range: Type J is listed there up to 750 °C, in the operating range up to 700 °C. Terminal assignment, process connection, system pressure, weight, CE mark and explosion protection are not documented. Every order code begins with the product identifier KB, the temperature range used must be specified in °C. The version with GL type approval is the TBMB (TE-MK1G).
