Description
The TPMG is a compact temperature sensor in a hygienic design with HART, manufacturer type Müller MHY-TS.
It is the hygienic version of the same design platform: The process connection is G1/2" in a hygienic design or an immersion probe, sensor tube, process connection and housing are continuously made of stainless steel 1.4571, the connector insert is always metal – plastic is not provided. It is designed for measuring points that are cleaned and where no plastic should be in contact with the medium. The system pressure is max. 25 bar, the protection class IP 65 / IP 68, the installation length 50 to 1000 mm.
One design covers several signal types: 4 … 20 mA with HART in the 2-wire loop, CANopen according to CiA 404, or the version without a transmitter with connections directly on the plug. The HART transmitter is set with the HART interface with USB and software, order number 01310-00220.
The input has one or two Pt100 or Pt1000 in classes A, B, and AA. The measuring range extends from -50 … +200 °C, the smallest span is 50 K. The total accuracy via HART is 0.3% of the range at 16 bit resolution and 10 measurements per second, via CANopen at ±0.1 K.
Please note before ordering: The datasheet does not mention a hygiene approval. The sheet describes the sensor as hygienic but does not document EHEDG or 3-A, no surface roughness Ra, no information on cleanability, no sealing materials, and no FDA conformity; only material 1.4571 and the G1/2" hygienic process connection are confirmed – those who need approval must request it from the manufacturer. The ambient temperature is not the medium temperature: The medium can be up to +200 °C, the electronics in the head tolerate only -20 … +80 °C with a transmitter, and -30 … +100 °C without a transmitter. For CANopen, only the eight-pin connector is suitable because the CAN bus pinout requires five pins – shield, plus, ground, CAN High, and CAN Low. The CANopen transmitter is calibrated at the factory; only the HART transmitter can be adjusted later. When communicating via a HART modem, a resistance of 250 Ω must be considered. The sheet does not mention a CE mark, a directive, or a declaration of conformity; explosion protection is also not documented.
