Description
The TCMD is a resistance thermometer cable sensor with GL type approval, manufacturer type Müller WT-K1G.
It is the approved version of the cable sensor for measuring points where there is no space for a connection head: rigid protective tube, press-fitted transition, fixed cable for evaluation, no terminal compartment, and no electronics. Compared to the WT-K1, the selection is limited – it is only available with Ø 6 mm and in nominal lengths of 46 or 70 mm, limited to 200 mm, and the cable to 6 m. The protective tube is made of 1.4571 (316Ti) and is approved for up to 600 °C; the protection class is IP 65 up to 250 °C.
The transition to the cable is pressed, and a heat shrink tube, optionally a spring, serves as bend protection. Five cable constructions from PVC to glass silk are available, standard length 2 m. The response time is t90 30.9 s for 6x0.5 mm and t90 22.1 s for 6x1 mm.
A Pt100 or Pt1000, single or double, is used as the measuring element, in a 2-, 3- or 4-wire circuit and without insulation material. The sensor's operating range extends from -200 ... +450 °C, and the accuracy can be ordered in five grades from Class A to B1/10DIN. The resistance value is available immediately at the output, with ferrule on open ends of 70 mm; a transmitter is not documented. The insulation is tested with 500 VDC.
Please note before ordering: The approval GL TAA00002H5 is documented as a mark and number, not as a certificate; the certificate must be requested before making an assurance to the classification society. Both versions bear the product identification KW; they are differentiated solely by the sensor element position: 4 ... 7 is the WT-K1G, 0 ... 3 is the WT-K1. Terminal assignment is not documented for this version – unlike the TCMC, which shows the colors according to DIN 60751; the assignment should be measured before connecting. The operating range is determined by the cable, not the sensor: PVC withstands -5 ... +70 °C, silicone -45 ... +180 °C, PTFE -75 ... +205 °C, glass silk -60 ... +550 °C. The ambient temperature is not the medium temperature, and for cable sensors, the cable is in the ambient environment. IP 65 does not apply to the shielded braid version. The source does not specify a standard for the accuracy classes; wall thickness, weight, system pressure, CE mark, and explosion protection are not documented. The version without GL approval is the TCMC (WT-K1), with three diameters and up to 2000 mm.
