Description

The TCME is a resistance thermometer designed as a cable sensor with a fitting, manufacturer type Müller WT-KH.

It measures where a mounting bore already exists: The fitting, a potted sleeve made of 1.4571, sits on the protective tube and guides the sensor precisely into the bore – no thread or flange is needed for this. You specify the diameter and length of the fitting, allowing the same sensor to fit an existing mounting. The protective tube made of 1.4571 (316Ti) is approved up to 600 °C and is available in Ø 4, 5, or 6 mm, with nominal lengths between 25 and 65 mm, or up to 2000 mm upon request. The protection class is IP 65 up to 250 °C.

It does not have a terminal compartment or electronics: The resistance value is directly available at open, bare ends of 70 mm, and the cable leads directly to the evaluation without an intermediate stage. A transmitter is not documented, therefore no current signal and no power supply either.

Measurements are taken with a Pt100 or Pt1000, single or double, in 2-, 3- or 4-wire circuit and without insulation material. The sensor's operating range extends from -200 ... +450 °C, and the accuracy can be ordered in five grades from Class A to B1/10DIN. For insulation, the manufacturer specifies a test voltage of 500 VDC.

Before ordering, please note: The fitting is not a documented sealing element – the data sheet does not specify system pressure, sealing effect, or installation tolerance; anyone wishing to seal against a medium with it will need written confirmation. The operating range is determined by the cable, not the sensor: PVC only withstands -5 ... +70 °C, glass fiber -60 ... +550 °C – and the cable is in an environment that is not the medium temperature. IP 65 does not apply to the version with screen braiding; what applies there is not stated in the sheet. The nominal length for Ø 4 mm is stated twice differently in the manufacturer's sheet, with 25 and with 35 mm; 25 mm has been adopted – please specify the length in plain text, as well as the temperature range in °C. The source does not specify a standard for the accuracy classes; CE marks and explosion protection are not documented, and this version does not carry a type approval – the version with GL TAA00002H5 is the TCMF (WT-KHG). Both carry the product identification KV and are distinguished solely by the "sensor element" location: 0 ... 3 is the WT-KH, 4 ... 7 is the WT-KHG.
