Description
The TCMC is a resistance thermometer cable probe, manufacturer type Müller WT-K1.
It measures at measuring points where there is no space for a connection head: a rigid protective tube, pressed firmly at the transition, and a fixed cable directly leading to evaluation. There is no terminal compartment and no electronics – the probe is inserted into a bore, a compression fitting, or a flange. The protective tube is made of 1.4571 (316Ti) and is approved up to 600 °C, with Ø 4, 5, or 6 mm and a wall thickness of 0.25 … 1 mm; the nominal lengths are 30, 46, 50, and 70 mm, the maximum length 2000 mm. The protection class is IP 65 up to 250 °C.
The transition to the cable is pressed; a heat shrink tube serves as bend protection, optionally a spring or a crimped transition. The standard cable length is 2 m. The response time at 6×0.5 mm is t90 30.9 s, at 6×1 mm t90 22.1 s.
A Pt100 or Pt1000, single or double, in 2-, 3- or 4-wire circuit and without insulating material, serves as the measuring element. The sensor's operating range extends from -200 … +450 °C; the accuracy can be ordered in five stages from Class A to B1/10DIN. The resistance value is immediately available at the output, at open ends of 70 mm; the core colors are shown in the data sheet according to DIN 60751. A transmitter is not documented. For insulation, the manufacturer only specifies a test voltage of 500 VDC.
Note before ordering: The operating range is determined by the cable, not the probe – PVC withstands -5 … +70 °C, silicone -45 … +180 °C, PTFE -75 … +205 °C, and glass fiber -60 … +550 °C; a sensor up to +450 °C is useless with a PVC cable. The ambient temperature is not the medium temperature – with a cable probe, the cable is in the ambient environment. IP 65 does not apply to the version with braided shielding. The source does not specify a standard for the accuracy classes – if a limit deviation in Kelvin needs to be guaranteed, it must be requested in writing from the manufacturer. In the order key, the digit 3 is missing for the nominal length; digits 0, 1, 2, 4, and 5 are specified; therefore, the length must be clearly stated in the order. Weight, system pressure, CE mark, and explosion protection are not documented. Both versions carry the product identifier KW; they are distinguished only by the sensor element position: 0 … 3 is the WT-K1, 4 … 7 is the WT-K1G. The GL version is the TCMD (WT-K1G) with the number GL TAA00002H5, only with Ø 6 mm and two nominal lengths.
