Description
The TBMC is a sheathed resistance thermometer with a flexible protective tube and fixed connection cable, manufacturer type Müller WT-MK1.
It measures in installation locations that a rigid protective tube cannot reach, and where a class better than a thermocouple is required. The sheathed tube can be bent to a radius of min. 5 × Ø protective tube; the cable is firmly attached to the sensor, eliminating the need for a connection head. Protective tube 1.4401 (316), specified as a material up to 600 °C, and connecting sleeve 1.4571 (316Ti) provide IP 65 up to 250 °C. Available in 3 · 4.5 · 6 mm diameters with a wall thickness of 0.25 to 0.51 mm, the standard nominal length is 100 mm, up to 2000 mm on request. Compression fittings and sheet metal flanges are available as accessories.
The sensor is sluggish: for 6×0.5 mm, the manufacturer states t90 30.9 s and t50 12 s; for 6×1 mm, t90 22.1 s and t50 7.6 s. Connection is via open ends with wire end ferrules; five cable types from PVC to glass silk are available.
The measuring element is a Pt100 or Pt1000, single or double, insulated in metal oxide and wired in 2-, 3- or 4-wire configuration. The sensor's operating range extends from -200 ... +450 °C, with accuracy selectable in five stages from Class A to B1/10DIN. The sensor outputs the resistance directly; a transmitter is not documented; insulation is tested with 500 VDC.
Before ordering, please note: The operating range is determined by the cable, not the sensor – PVC ends at +70 °C, silicone at +180 °C, PTFE at +205 °C, glass silk at +550 °C; only the glass silk version reaches the +450 °C of the sensor. Two four-wire sensors are only available with PTFE-silicone cable, so this version ends at +180 °C. The source does not specify any standard for the accuracy classes – if a class needs to be guaranteed, it must be confirmed by the manufacturer. The two response times contradict each other: the thicker 6×1 mm wall is stated as faster, and 1 mm is not in the wall thickness table. IP 65 does not apply to the version with braided shielding. Terminal assignment, process connection, system pressure, weight, CE mark, and explosion protection are not documented. Each order code begins with the product identifier KM, the used temperature range must be specified in °C. The version with GL type approval is the TBMD (WT-MK1G).
