Description
The TBMB is a sheathed thermocouple with GL type approval, manufacturer type Müller TE-MK1G.
It is designed for systems where the sensor must have type approval from Germanischer Lloyd: GL TAA00002H3. Technically, it is the sensor of the TE-MK1, but more narrowly defined – the nominal length is limited to 200 mm, and the connection cable to 6 m. The sheath remains flexible with a minimum bending radius of 5 × Ø protection tube, reaching installation locations that a rigid protection tube cannot; the cable is firmly attached to the sensor, eliminating the need for a connection head. Protection tube 2.4816 (Inconel 600) and connection sleeve 1.4571 (316Ti) provide IP 65 up to 250 °C.
Diameters and wall thicknesses are specified as 1.9×0.2, 3×0.25, 4.5×0.36, and 6×0.51 mm, with a standard nominal length of 100 mm. Connection is made via open ends or via TE connectors in standard or mini form; five cable types from PVC to glass fiber are available. Clamp fittings and sheet metal flanges from the accessories are used for fastening.
The measuring element is a thermocouple Type J (Fe-CuNi) or Type K (NiCr-Ni), insulated in metal oxide. The operating range for Type J is from -200 … +700 °C, and for Type K from -200 … +1000 °C. The limit deviation follows DIN EN 60584-2 Class 1: ±1.5 °C in the range -40 … 375 °C, and above that ±0.004|t|. The sensor outputs the thermovoltage directly; a transmitter is not documented; the insulation is tested with 500 VDC.
Note before ordering: The approval is proven by a mark and number, not by a certificate; the certificate should be requested before any assurance is given to the classification society. Both versions carry the product designation KB; they are distinguished solely by the thermocouple type digit: 2 · 3 is the TE-MK1G, 0 · 1 is the TE-MK1 – a digit swap orders the sensor without approval. The operating range is determined by the cable, not the sensor: PVC ends at +70 °C, silicone at +180 °C, PTFE at +250 °C, glass fiber at +550 °C; for PTFE, the sister sheets state +205 °C. IP 65 does not apply to the version with braided shield. Terminal assignment, process connection, system pressure, weight, response time, CE mark, and explosion protection are not documented. The version without approval, with a nominal length of 2000 mm, is the TBMA (TE-MK1).
