Wireless telemetry in the 2.4 GHz band

Telemetry is not a replacement for a cable but the solution for measuring points a cable cannot reach: rotating components, suspended loads, mobile setups, temporary measurements. The modules digitise the signal directly at the sensor and transmit the finished measured value – so what travels through the air is no longer a sensitive millivolt signal.

Why 2.4 GHz

The band is licence-free worldwide, the range with line of sight is in the hundreds of metres, and frequency hopping makes the connection robust against interference from other radio applications. Together with the power management of the modules, this yields battery lifetimes that also support self-sufficient long-term measurements. A network scales from a single sensor to many measuring points.

For a short link to a smartphone or tablet, Bluetooth is the simpler route.
