Description
The EOMB is the explosion-proof version of the universal transducer, type MATU-Ex.
Electrically, it is the same programmable transducer as the EOMA, additionally certified as an intrinsically safe Ex-component for zones 0, 1 and 2 for gases. The marking is II 1 G Ex ia [ia] IIC Ga and II 2 G Ex ia [ib] IIC Gb; the certificates are TÜV 21 ATEX 309041 U and IECEx TUN 22.0017 U.
The U in both certificate numbers means component, not device: The installer is responsible for the approval of the finished device. This includes four installation requirements – the board must be installed to at least IP20 according to DIN EN 60529, encapsulated according to DIN EN 60079-11 in such a way that the permissible barrier layer temperature of the Z-diodes is not exceeded, the supply and output circuit must be safely galvanically isolated from earth potential, and installation and commissioning must be carried out by qualified personnel with knowledge of the types of protection. A temperature class is not specified; it only results from the installation.
For Ex operation, a narrower operating temperature applies than in the general data: -40 ... +75 °C at the current output and -40 ... +50 °C at the voltage output, compared to a working range of -40 ... +85 °C. Anyone who relies on the approval must design according to these values. The intrinsic safety characteristics: Ui 30 VDC, Ii 110 mA, Pi 1 W at the input; Uo 4.1 V, Io 51 mA or 52 mA, Po 52 mW in the sensor circuit; Uo 12.6 V, Io 48 mA, Po 148 mW at the voltage output.
The input supports Pt100 and Pt1000 in 4-, 3- or 2-wire circuits, thermocouples of types J, K and N, a strain gauge full bridge from 350 Ω, current and voltage, as well as a potentiometer from 350 Ω to 100 kΩ. The output is 4 ... 20 mA or 0 ... 10 V. The resolution is 24 bit, the accuracy max. 0.1 % of the nominal range. The rectangular design measures 35 × 18 × 4 mm, the round one 31.4 × 28.6 × 4.8 mm.
The intrinsically safe circuit requires an isolation barrier in the safe area, which supplies the power and output circuit; it is not included in the scope of delivery. A CE mark is not documented in the manufacturer's data sheet; a declaration of conformity must be requested before placing it on the market in the EU. The DEV-KMA configurator with TrComm software is used for configuration.
