Description
The TEMF is a modular compact temperature sensor with marine approval, manufacturer type Müller MKTS-GL; the intrinsically safe version is called MKTS-GLEx.
It measures directly in the medium, where high pressure and a harsh environment come together: 250 bar system pressure at 375 bar burst pressure; sensor tube, housing body and connector insert all in stainless steel 1.4571 – the connector insert included, no plastic –, protection class IP 65 at the electronics and IP 68 at the sensor. Added to this the type approvals DNV TAA00003GS and EU RO MRA0000052, which apply to both versions.
One datasheet covers two versions: they differ in the approval and in the operating temperature – and in nothing else. The MKTS-GLEx is additionally intrinsically safe, II 1 G Ex ia IIC T6..T1 Ga for zones 0, 1 and 2 with gases; the MKTS-GL has no explosion protection. The order codes are identical field by field, only the identifier changes from MK to GN.
Measurement is made with one or two Pt100 or Pt1000 in 2-, 3- or 4-wire technology, in class A only, at 24-bit resolution. The measuring range runs from -50 … +200 °C, the smallest span is 50 K. At the output, 4 … 20 mA, three voltage ranges or the resistance directly at the connector are available.
Please note before ordering: The accuracy of max. 0.1 % of range applies only between 0 and +40 °C; below that, 0.0015 % per kelvin is added, above it 0.019 % – at +80 °C around 0.76 % on top, plus the error of the measuring element. Ambient temperature and medium temperature are two different things: the MKTS-GL works at -40 … +85 °C, whereas for the MKTS-GLEx the limit depends on the temperature class and on the output type – current output -40 … +75 °C, voltage output only -40 … +50 °C, passive -50 … +100 °C. The medium temperature of the MKTS-GLEx is likewise tied to the temperature class: +425 °C in T1, +275 °C in T2, +180 °C in T3, +115 °C in T4, +80 °C in T5 and +65 °C in T6. Measuring range and medium temperature contradict each other in the source – feature list -50 … +200 °C, data table -50 … +425 °C: the transmitter measures only up to +200 °C, the 425 °C concern what the tube withstands; the lower value applies, and it should be confirmed before sizing. Both Ex certificate numbers end in X – TÜV 21 ATEX 201293 X and IECEx TUN 21.0005X – and carry special conditions; the source names heat flowing back, impact and friction as well as electrostatic charging. For none of the four certificates do we hold a document, only the numbers are substantiated; a CE mark is not documented. The identifier is used more than once – MK for MKTS, MKTS-GL and MKTS-SP, GN for MKTS-Ex and MKTS-GLEx – which is why the type designation belongs in the order in plain text. Two measuring elements are available only without a transmitter; the insertion length (10 … 300 mm in 5 mm steps) must be stated. Configuration is done with the DEV-KMA and the TrComm software.
